Dr. Megan Alstot

Dr. Megan Alstot is the ATL's Postdoctoral Research Associate in AI and Emerging Teaching Technologies. She earned her B.A. in Liberal Arts and, in 2025, her Ph.D. in Global Leadership and Change from Pepperdine University. Her research interests explore what it means to be a responsible, metaliterate learner in an AI-integrated world. Her work seeks to inform student-centered pedagogical approaches that foster learning, learner agency, and critical thinking within an educational network. She earned her M.A. in Educational Leadership from California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI). In addition to her degrees, she holds a California Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, Administrative Credential, and Learning Design Certification from the Online Learning Consortium (OLC).  

Alstot has worked in the field of education for over 20 years from K-12 to postsecondary. Prior to joining Baylor, she worked at CSUCI as a lecturer and field work supervisor in the School of Education and Lead Learning Designer for Teaching and Learning Innovations (TLi) Team where she has supported faculty and academic programs in implementing humanized, well-designed, online learning courses and degree programs. Most recently she served as the Interim Director for the Learning Resource Center and Academic Success Services, overseeing a peer-tutoring center for first-year math and quantitative reasoning gateway courses. 

Having personally benefitted from online learning options, Alstot hopes her work contributes toward teaching innovations that empower more learners to achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. She is passionate about learning technologies — including GenAI — and their potential to increase access to higher education through empowering students and faculty with choice and flexibility in how learning is achieved.
