UTDG Testimonials

Overall, it was a phenomenal trip with huge benefits for me personally and professionally. More importantly, this trip has laid the groundwork to create a pipeline for our students to have access to the preeminent Shakespeare theatre in the world….I learned new skills that I will be using directly and immediately this Fall and am very excited at the prospect of the larger impact a partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre will have with us in the future.

Theatre Arts

My purpose in attending this conference was to identify definitive practices and resources that will assist in incorporating new practices, assignments, and content in [our] professional development courses to support student wellness in the present and long-term….I have outlined content, assignments, and policy improvements to implement in the practicum classes and the Child and Family Studies program as a whole that will help support student wellness and make helpful connections between the CFS curriculum and student professional development.

Human Sciences & Design

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend this conference, where I gained so much information that I look forward to sharing with my Performer Wellness (MUS 4236) students…. Perhaps the most informative sessions were the ones that incorporated practical information that would inform my teaching right away…. With so many Baylor music students citing repetitive stress injury as a reason for attending my Performer Wellness class, I am grateful for simple preventative tools to help them notice postural, alignment, and movement patterns that can put them at risk for injury.

Keyboard Studies

Perhaps the most wide-reaching effects that will come out of our conference attendance will be the conversations we start with our colleagues about the use of technological and online tools in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures to promote DEI and social justice issues. At the start of the Fall semester, we hope to present a panel to share the ways that geolocation apps, project-based learning, and virtual exchanges can be used effectively to further DEI both in and outside the classroom.

Modern Languages & Cultures

I am grateful for the UTDG funding that made this incredible opportunity financially possible. After a year of teaching in a pandemic, I needed to find a way to re-energize my teaching. Rare Book School and the UTDG provided that opportunity. I learned so much and I expanded my professional network, which I believe will enhance my teaching effectiveness. I am excited to incorporate this new material into my courses.

Museum Studies

I learned knowledge and skills that could be resources for updating my course assignments, activities, and discussion topics. I believe that the updated course materials provide meaningful classroom experiences for my students to be HR professionals who will contribute to their future employers' success.

Management

I was provided with the wonderfully, enriching opportunity to study the Alexander Technique with master teacher Eileen Troberman after being awarded a University Teaching Development Grant. It is safe to say that these lessons, and the awareness they have provided, have fundamentally changed many of the ways I think of and teach the double bass, and I believe that these pedagogical changes have already yielded tangible fruit in my student’s performance abilities.

Instrumental Studies

The lessons I learned from this class will enable me to design student assignments and activities, and more generally hold discussions with students on topics of finance in HR, including highlighting the elements they need to understand as future HR professionals. I will also be able to converse with our corporate partners more effectively, having enhanced my own knowledge in this area. Finally, I will also use this new knowledge I have gained in our continuing integration of data analytics into our HR core curriculum.
