Preparing to Teach
Designing a course requires instructors to think through three basic questions:
- What are the course goals and objectives? (Learning Goals and Objectives)
- How do I help my students achieve these objectives? (Learning Activities)
- How will I know if my students have achieved these objectives? (Learning Assessment)
These questions further implicate global considerations, such as the possibility of Flipped Learning, Universal Design for Learning, and Open Educational Resources. After formulating answers to these questions, you will be able to prepare further by constructing a syllabus and thinking through how you will structure the first day of class.
