Eka Gogichashvili (Associate Professor of Violin) is an active performer, teacher, and presenter.  She is the violinist of Eka and Kae Duo and regularly performs as a chamber musician nationally and internationally with her colleagues at Baylor and other universities.  In addition to applied lessons, Dr. Gogichashvili teaches Chamber Music and Orchestral Excerpts classes. She regularly appears at national conventions as a clinician on various topics of violin performance practice, repertoire, and pedagogy. Her latest research interests lie in composers active during the holocaust and in performance practice of microtonal music.  Dr. Gogichashvili’s recent recordings include Schulhoff’s Violin Compositions (2015) and David Gordon’s Mysteria Incarnationis, a song cycle for violin, soprano, and prepared piano (2020). 

Dr. Gogichashvili holds dual Bachelor of Music degrees from Balanchivadze College of Music and from Rowan University in NJ. She also holds dual Master of Music degrees from Tbilisi State Conservatory and the Louisiana State University (LSU). She completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at LSU with a minor in orchestral conducting.
