Dr. Craig R. Clarkson serves as Manager of Operations for Baylor’s Academy for Teaching and Learning, bringing together a rare blend of academic expertise and operational leadership. Before entering higher education, he spent more than a decade as a corporate educator, an ERP consultant, and as Director of Financial and Human Resources Information Systems for a NASDAQ-traded corporation. This dual expertise shapes his approach to building effective programs and processes that advance Baylor’s teaching mission.

Clarkson has played a central role in shaping and sustaining Baylor’s faculty development programs such as the Teaching Capstone in Higher Education, Baylor Fellows, Provost’s Faculty Forum, Course Makeover Workshop, Faculty Institutes, the University Teaching Development Grant program, and more. His work reflects a deep commitment to excellence through continuous improvement, ensuring that programs adapt and thrive in changing academic contexts.

In the realm of higher ed teaching and learning, Clarkson’s interests include the teaching of core texts and courses, teaching disciplinary thinking to non-majors, and course design and curricula. His focus on foundational learning is informed by over a decade of experience in the classroom, including his work as a Lecturer in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC) where he invites students to explore the interplay between culture, faith, and philosophy. Known for clarity, humor, and care, he is passionate about helping students grow as thinkers and as human beings.
